>>> CINEMA AS SPIRITUAL ACTIVISM
what i believe in:
social responsibility
Storytelling is our avenue to ignite awareness. After all, 'Cantadoras', or spiritual storytellers, have always had the grand responsibility to pass down the wisdoms and insights of our ancestors in enchanting and thought-provoking ways.
femme / non-binary power
Strong female, non-binary, trans characters and leads. Characters not bound to limitations of gender roles, identities and expression.audacious storytelling
intersectionality
Representation and inclusion of complex characters that celebrate intersectionality in culture, gender, ability and sexuality.
truth
Every story should speak to a deeper truth we can relate to or a truth we should unlock our minds to. Characters, stories and process should be and feel honest.
bold storytelling
Every project should be a safe place for collaborators to be bold and push creative boundaries in how to tell the story.
accountability
With each project, we create to grow. There will be an equitable, safe structure within each project where collaborators can process grievances and growth—- with actionable changes.
inclusivity
The crew and all involved in the creative process should also represent different backgrounds and experiences. From pre-production until completion-- all should feel welcome, safe and supported. This includes access, equity and decentralized power in the structure of filmmaking.
community power
A community already has wisdom, and understanding of its own story and has the solutions integrated into it on how to overcome adversity, dark, or difficult times. A community should have transparency, advocacy, and space to integrate with a production and or team.
